Manta Diving with Megan

Megan stayed with us for 6 weeks as a Kona Mountain Refuge apprentice. Unfortunately, the COVID-19 pandemic caused most beaches to be closed down during the time she was here. But fortunately, Keauhou Bay remained open for water activities. We frequented this spot along with some manta rays that Megan had some great luck interacting with. As a freediver, she was able to dive down to about 15 meters (~50 feet) to get up close to these gentle giants of the sea. Check out this fun video she captured after salvaging her water-logged GoPro in a bowl of rice for a couple days.
